Andy Thornton calculates that it could help put Romania on the podium as a Team, despite weak Bars.

I’m skeptical. Many girls train those vaults on to resi-pit, but don’t compete them. Brenna Dowell from GAGE has a terrific Amanar, for example, but it isn’t consistent nor safe enough to use in competition on hard mats.

I’ll believe it IF they try them in the friendly in Bucharest this week.

I hope they don’t win at the Olympics. I don’t hate them but they’re really like Kyla Ross – nothing wrong technically but very uninspiring. They have a lot of difficult tricks but they never look impressive. Their routines look really choppy.

No really? And who is inspiring then?

Kyla Ross is more inspiring; then lordache . Who looks like a speed machine. Just speeds through her routines.

You’re always doubting the Romanians, Rick. I think if anyone’s going to upset the USA ladies for gold, it’ll be Romania. Just like in 2004! They had one bad competition at Worlds last year, and Euros showed that’s all it was. They always manage to make it on the medals podium at the Olympics. USA better keep an eye on Russia and China and BOTH eyes on Romania!

Iordache is amazing….yes she works quickly but to cram in all her dificult skills she has to. Her having an amanar will be a major upset to usa/russia. She can execute difficult skills really well her triple twist is one of the best, silvas can be stuck, and he beam is wprld class definietly a fourit for beam, floor and aa gold!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. One of the universal rules of women’s gymnastics is never to count Romania out. Who’s to say the girls haven’t been training these vaults for ages and just now allowed video of it to be shot? Belu and Bitang are masters of peaking, planning and PR and they’ve got a talented and hungry squad, even though it’s not as deep as the USA.
