Great news. #FIGTest12
Slava Corn announced that Artistic and Trampoline Finals will be LIVE STREAMED on the FIG YouTube channel. (Rhythmic will not as it’s in a separate venue during the Olympics.)
Artistic and Trampoline prelims will be LIVE streamed, as well. But not every routine. This is a first for an FIG meet and is a bit of an experiment.
Rumour is that FIG video content will later be available under a Creative Commons license. I’ll confirm that when it happens.
I congratulated Meike BEHRENSEN, FIG Media Operations Coordinator, personally. This is yet another great innovation. Ron Scammell, Gymnastics Canada, for example, can now get video footage of the Canadians to promote the sport back home.

That is FANTASTIC news!
Is it possible to live stream with You Tube? Or are they just going to be uploading right after it happens?
Either way, it’s great.
I read on TAAF Forum it will be only EF and trampoline.
Hopefully the FIG will make a specific announcement.
WOW, that’s great! quite surprising coming from FIG, but definitely a blessed initiative.
Is there a schedule somewhere? will it be posted on the channel?
And will the videos be uploaded after as well?
Thanks for the info Rick!
FIG was guarded in their promises as it’s a first effort. But that technology has been working for a number of years. I’ll post the schedule as soon as we get it.
I found a schedule here:

Looks like:
Tue 10 Jan – Mens Qual (3 subdivisions starting at 10:30 UTC)
Wed 11 Jan – Womens Qual (4 subdivisions starting at 9:30 UTC)
Thu 12 Jan – Apparatus Finals (starting at 18:30 UTC)
I’m a bit surprised by the schedule, I thought they would have had the team aspect done in a team final like format (ie all 8 team in 1 session). Which would have been much better if they wanted to get any TV coverage.
Anyway, hopefully the streamed bit will be the qualifications, which is the important part of this competition. Not sure that anybody will care about the apparatus finals since they don’t mean anything.
Oops, forgot to check the last page, there is app finals day 2 on 13 Jan. Not that this matters, the important days are Tue, Wed.
The goal is to duplicate the Olympics as much as possible, a run through for the volunteer, etc.
So… shouldn’t that mean that they should have a team final?? Since there will be one at the olympics. If they want to duplicate some of the olympic competitions, but not all, then it would have been much much better to have team and all around final, than to have meaningless apparatus finals.
IOC asks FIG to make it as much like the Olympics as possible — but it’s not possible to completely duplicate. … I’m guessing FIG thought it would be silly to have only 8 teams to choose 4, and then have a Team final.
The biggest problem is venues. Rhythmic will be here this week — but in a different venue for the Olympics.
thanks Bob! do you know where could I find the trampoline schedule as well?
I think this is it:

Looks like the competition schedule is on the last page – 13th Jan
The FIG also have some more info on their London microsite:

Thanks Bob. I’ll add that Tramp link to the Quick Links atop the home page. I’ll be staying for Tramp, myself.
Thanks a lot Bob
