I like this drill for fun. But the “scoop to candle” is the essential.

what’s up with all those Yurchenko vids lately?
just curious
Ha. You’re right. I hadn’t even noticed.
… At summer training camps we tend to do a lot of Yurchenko, Blind Change, Trampoline drills, etc.
well, bring on some trampoline ones then
or blind changes haha
I love this drill- it really helps smaller/ younger kids get the feeling of flipping a yurchenko much earlier without sacrificing form or technique. They can also get more experience flipping layouts and twisting! We used it today & they got a ton of reps in because they thought it was fun!
Coming up … tomorrow.
And Tkachev. A skill that can be trained on tramp.
Forgive me for a stupid question, but I’ve been out of the coaching loop for a while and never worked with this high a level. What kind of drills were done before all these super cool mats became available?
Search YURCHENKO, AM.
There’s been a lot of recent posts on “introducing Yurchenko”.
You take the basis of a Yurchenko vault and you miniaturize it. Break it down in its parts as a RO, BHS and challenge the use of the springboard and the height of the BHS a little more as the skill level increases.
Thanks TP. I just remember my coach (in the mid 80s) using stacked panel mats and it was…kind of scary (but fun)
