At the Bieger International Gymnastics qualifier Vanessa scored 36.80 (all results PDF).

Casey didn’t make it. Her three event score was only 40 but she needed 42. Her compulsory score was only 32.

can some one explain to me what compulsory routines they are doing i thought it was just optional?

There are elite compulsory routines. If you look hard enough you can find them on YouTube.
