Yeah…it’s beyond annoying at this point. I’m not sure that it was ever cute in the first place, but it certainly isn’t now. I had to “unfollow” her on twitter because I got sick of all of the constant “oMGZ VOTE FOR MEEEEEEeeeEEE1!11″ nonsense.

I agree. First time was fun. Second time was like ‘oh she did it again’ but now it’s just too much. It gets annoying after a while.

I used to love Shawn, but I’m tired of her and all her apperances and the attention. I know that as a gymnast you need to take advantage of all the oppurtunities you can, but using every blog post or twitter update to beg people to vote for is is kind of getting pathetic

Then don’t vote. She isn’t forcing you and why exactly do you ignore Nastia doing the same thing every day? Nastia whores for votes just as much. Seems to me you have an agenda called bitter Nastia fan

Actually, please, I voted for both, one time only, for the first few of these FAN PARTICIPATION schemes.

Voted for Shawn on DWTS.

But that’s it. Now I vote for neither.

I mention Shawn, not Nastia, in this post as Shawn is far more pushy on her blog and Twitter.

Yeah, I’m pretty bored with it. And Nastia is NOT doing the same thing–she posts about voting for her a couple of times, and then drops it, leaving the requests at a a barely tolerable level. Every other post on Shawn’s twitter is trying to pimp out votes.

Maybe that’s the real reason the other gymnasts don’t follow her.

Am I kidding? Not kidding? I’m not really sure.

PS–I am not a fan of one girl over the other, but after winning AA gold at the Olympics, calling nastia fans “bitter” is a little misguided. What, exactly, do they have to be bitter over? Probably not DWTS, since Nastia passed it over to get back into the gym earlier.

Really?!! You all sound like immature, jealous, school girls. Why can’t people be happy for the success both girls have achieved. With the ever-shrinking sport of gymnastics, why wouldn’t we all be proud of the attention and recognition both girls are getting. Get over yourselves! Why do you have to be so negative? They should ask us to support them and yes we should vote. Why not what does it really take from you to click a button when the publicity for gymnastics can only help to improve the popularity of the sport.

I actually agree with you TippyToes.

But Shawn has had too many vote for me campaigns, I think.

Nastia has been restrained.

Personally I’m thrilled with the success of both. Attention for gymnasts is good for the entire gymnastics coaching community.

It’s annoying…but appeals to her target market.
Shawn is going for the pre-teen Disney fans who have no lives yet, and have mommies and daddies buy things for them. That’s fine, because Shawn is still but a girl.
Nastia is a woman and understands people have lives other than to “omGz lolz vote 4 me!”

One can be thrilled for her success in both the gymnastics and the celebrity realm, and still be bored with her twitter account. i would also find it boring if she posted what she ate that day over and over again and wasn’t trying to drum up support for her nominations.

Which is fine. I just pass over her tweets.

Yeah it does get a little annoying, and please don’t tell me you love me Shawn. I haven’t even taken you to dinner yet.

In fact all the gymnasts that sign their posts/updates with “love” just drives me a little nutty.

People have been saying that gymnastics popularity is shrinking for decades now and it doesn’t seem much different to me. In fact all the efforts the FIG has made to make it more “popular” don’t seem to be making a lick of difference.

Nastia does it daily just as much as Shawn and Nastia fans are bitter that Shawn is getting the fame Nastia wants.

All Nastia does on her twitter is kiss people’s ass. She is so phony. I know multiple people who know Nastia through Gym and school (both College and highschool) and she is one of the only gymnasts at that school people can’t stand.

She isn’t as nice as she pretends to be and the people who know her aren’t fooled like the fanatical fans.

I am not a fan of either gymnast but Nastia fans are so bitter it’s really starting to be annoying. Shawn can’t be successful at anything without Nastia fans liek this blog writer trying to knock her down.
