Markelov full — the first I’ve ever seen — is getting panned because it’s done with very poor form. Nonetheless, it’s a very original, very neat trick.

Seems every release move can be caught in a different grip to add a half twist.
The obvious connection from this one would be Jaeger.

That’s a Markelov to mixed grip. I don’t think she turns before she regrasps. Also, If she did have that extra half twist in there it would actually be a Markelov half. And yes, the form is nasty. That’s the cool thing about gymnastics. You don’t really have to be that great to innovate.
Good point sher.
I changed my name for it to Markelov plus half.
Wow, no kidding about the bad form.
The two twists are in opposite directions; were this to be competed, I would hope to see it with both halves in the same direction (ie a hecht full).
Those to disclaimers having been made, it is a pretty neat skill.
“The two twists are in opposite directions”?
How do you figure that?
I hate mixed grip (except out of half Tak). Hate the guy who does a 1.5 Kovacs or whatever, but catches in mixed grip (so it is really more like a 1.25, and so he makes it easier on hiumself since undergrip takes more skill.)

Nevermind, I was wrong. I thought she changed directions.
Kind of reminds me of Shushonova’s original skill on uneven bars but twists post flight.
