I understand why his family is telling him to move on. If USAG wants to find an argument to keep him in the sport at age 27 given his level of competetiveness (not Paul Hamm….and even look at Paul’s decision), then they need to find a way for gymnasts to make real money. Otherwise his family is wise to tell him to move on.

Long live Dave Durante. What a top shelf guy. I still can’t believe he didn’t compete in Beijing, and I still can’t get the images of him in the audience watching his team win the medal.
What ever he decides to do, he should have no regrets – I wish him all the very best. He is a legend.

I agree. Was awesome and touching watching him cheering the men’s squad including two of his alternate buddies in China. Sorta missed that “team of nine” dynamic with the little darlings…

And not to mention, in my humble opinion, the most aesthetically beautiful American gymnast of all time…
