Many of the top pole vaulters in the world are former gymnasts. Especially female pole vaulters.

Back in the day, at University of Saskatchewan, they came in regularly to our gym for conditioning and gymnastics training.

Gymnastics Training for the Pole Vault provides a detailed review of a series of proven drills and activities that can be performed either in the gymnastics area or with equipment that might be available around the track to improve an athletes pole vault performance. In an easy-to-understand and apply manner, the DVD explains and demonstrates how to perform each drill and activity. Among the topics covered: warm-up tumbling, uneven-bars exercises, high-bar exercises, parallel-bars exercises, ring exercises, trampoline exercises, and static rope climb.

Thanks for posting this. sometime long ago i misplaced the skillbook my coach gave me for his entire polevault program ( actually his father’s who was the coach at a local college ). I so valued it during my senior year as it was our bible.

I hear there is a national level coach south of Sacramento but have yet to ever check out.

It was funny too, because in Sydney and Athens, the commentators mentioned that almost every female pole vaulter was an extra gymnast. Stacey Dragila et al

Several of my gymnasts went on to become National Team Pole Vaulters for Team Canada. Most notably was Kelsie Hendry who competed in Beijing for Canada. It seems a very natural sport for gymnasts to gravitate towards after the gym career is over.
