Never give up.
Just be yourself. It’s OK not to look the same as everyone else. Always be thankful for what you have even if you want so much more.
Your Mom is never going to stop being your best friend. Even if you get into a fight, your Mom will not ever stop loving you.
Even if you don’t get first place or win gold, it doesn’t mean you aren’t a winner. Or that you did bad. If you did your personal best, you will always get “GOLD”.
Just always smile. Life isn’t as fun if you always are sad.

Gymnast Sho Nakamori from Stanford is a nice guy. And he’s recently launched a new blog.
I learned about it from an exclusive interview:
Focused on making the 2012 team, Nakamori recently launched a great new blog that will chronicle his journey. The blog entries, we must add, are very well written. He now has the luxury to concentrate solely on gymnastics, after a grueling academic career at such a challenging institution as Stanford. He will continue to train at Stanford under the tutelage of 2009 National Coach of the Year, Thom Glielmi. Nakamori is very happy to remain at his “home” away from home, especially since it will mean that he will remain in close proximity to his mother and sister. …

Sho: To never give up if you decide to do something. Nothing worthwhile comes easy. There are always going to be struggles along the way but with a positive attitude it is possible to overcome it. Plus, the difficult times make the happy times so much better. …

Chmelka Nebraska Gymnastics Head Coach
As expected, Chuck Chmelka has taken over for retiring Nebraska Gymnastics Head Coach Francis Allen.
1984 Olympic gold medalist Jim Hartung will remain as Chmelka’s assistant coach.
The team is under some pressure to produce in the very near future if they are to survive possible athletic budget cuts.
The program’s future depends on a successful 2010 season. The once unbeatable Huskers—they’re the only team, ever, to win five men’s titles in a row (1979-83) and own eight national titles total; only Penn State and Illinois have more—finished the 2009 season ranked ninth (out of 20 teams) and haven’t won a National Championship since 1994. …
Chmelka, who is married to fellow former Husker gymnast Kim Grabowski with a son, Alex, also a gymnast, runs the well-respected Nebraska School of Gymnastics, the junior program based in the Husker’s facility. …
Right now, Chmelka’s focus is on his new role as the Husker head coach, and leading his team back to top of the men’s gymnastics ranks.
“The first thing we gotta address, and fix, is recruiting,” Chmelka says of how he plans to get there. “We’re going to recruit differently than we have. We have to. Our guys are good, and we’re getting better, but we need a couple of the top guys to challenge those top teams. Somehow, we gotta get ‘em to come to Nebraska. It’s going to be tough. It’s going to be a lot of work. But it can be done. Mark (Williams) did it [at Oklahoma], Stanford went through it. I know we can do it too.”
Despite the rumors, Chmelka clearly feels his team’s future is bright. “Do I think we’re going to have a team next year?” he asks, answering emphatically, “Heck yes! … I’m not even thinking that we’re not going to be here next year. I’m planning on being here for a long, long time.”

Looks to me like this is no big deal. I hope it’s only a slap on the wrist.
But about 125 athletes received benefits totaling less than $100 each. Including gymnasts.
… The NCAA placed Alabama’s football program and 15 other of the school’s athletic teams on three years’ probation for major violations due to misuse of free textbooks. …
