That’s it.
I’ll stick with this new theme. At lest until it is “hacked” next. Leave a comment if there are any features you want added.

Point your feet, guy.

I checked in at Gymblog Brazil to see what’s the buzz in the 2016 Olympic nation.
In recent years the Brazilian gymnastics got firsts. Diego e Daniele Hypólito, Daiane dos Santos, Jade Barbosa, … Medals staged the World Cup, which before were only a distant dream, have become routine for athletes like Diego and Daniele Hypolito, Daiane dos Santos, Jade Barbosa, among other champions. With the confirmation that the 2016 Olympics will be in Brazil, the euphoria swept the gymnastics and professionals involved with the sport. …
Rio Gym Brazilian celebrates 2016 and expects even more support – translated to English
I’m very happy for everyone there. Having enjoyed the 1988 Winter Olympics in my home city, I know all the positives that will result from being the host.
Congratulations.
We can expect a new generation of gymnastics stars to train hard for the Games in their home country.

Chicago and Tokyo are out of the running to host the 2016 Olympics.
They must vote for Rio now.
Olympic veterans Brandon O’Neill of Edmonton and Nathan Gafuik of Calgary will lead a seven-member Canadian team at the 2009 artistic world gymnastics championships October 13-18 in London, England.
Joining O’Neill and Gafuik on the men’s squad are 2009 Canadian men’s high bar champion Kevin Lytwyn of Burlington, Ont., and 2008 junior champion Jackson Payne of Edmonton.
The women’s team consists of 2007 Canadian junior champion Brittany Rogers and Charlotte Mackie, both of Coquitlam, B.C. and 2009 senior all around champion Sydney Sawa of Calgary.
This year’s worlds features just individual competition, the only time in the four-year Olympic cycle that does not include a team event for participating countries.

If there is one video editor Women’s Artistic coaches need pay attention to, it’s Mostepanovafan.

Beam regulations in almost every nation, at almost every level, include some kind of “leotard must touch the beam” requirement.
Historically, those elements have been some of the most interesting and prettiest.

Commentary from the Romanian gymnastics blog:
… our big hope is the little great Larisa Iordache. She actually came pretty close to over scoring the seniors, although they were in a different division of the competition. Larisa had a great competition on beam and floor. On beam she threw a new combination (flick + tucked full twist), a difficult double turn and one of the best triple twist dismounts ever. Thus she upgraded her beam routine to a 6.7 difficulty, rewarded by the judges with 15.775, the highest score in the whole competition. …

Hmm. Them’s a lot of wobbles for less than 1.0 deduction.
Still, another super talent on beam from Romania. Strong Floor. Comparatively weak bars. The same story as usual.
Why doesn’t Romania bring in some proven Bar coaches?

A short clip from early season workout of an NCAA team.
I link to it only because it includes a brilliant conditioning drill. Have the kids push your vehicle across the parking lot, while you steer.
That’s my idea of FUN conditioning, … at least for the coach.

HBC won the contract to supply uniform for Canadian Olympians from 2006 – 2012.
I saw this on Kyle Shewfelt’s (kyleshew) twitter feed.
But they’ve never found a theme anywhere nearly as good as the previous supplier, Roots.
The best the Hudson’s Bay Company has done is copy the Roots Retro formula.
Last Thursday the “look” for the 2010 Olympics hosted in Canada was unveiled.

“Hoser Chic”, it’s been called.
I like it. But certainly we need Roots to win back the contract after 2012. Overall, HBC has been a disappointment.
