The men’s line-up for the qualification round is:
floor exercise – Wynn, Brooks, Leyva, Horton, Legendre;
pommel horse – Leyva, Brooks, Legendre, Horton and Cameron;
still rings – Leyva, Legendre, Cameron, Horton and Wynn;
vault – Leyva, Brooks, Wynn, Horton and Legendre;
parallel bars – Wynn, Legendre, Horton, Brooks and Leyva;
horizontal bar – Legendre, Wynn, Brooks, Leyva and Horton.
Five men compete on each apparatus, with the top four scores counting. Three men will compete on all six events: Horton, Legendre and Leyva.
The U.S. men compete at 2 p.m. ET on Oct. 18.

She trained two or three more difficult variations, including double double tucked dismount. It will be interesting to see what she decides on for Finals.

THE ALL AROUND:
… There are only 5 E panel judges. The highest and lowest scores are dropped, the remaining three averaged. This results in scores like 13.366 or 14.383.
In addition to the E panel judges there are two E reference judges whose scores are used if the difference between E scores is too big. …
I talked to one of the reference judges on Bars after day 1. She said they only rarely needed to use the reference scores. Evaluation was pretty consistent, she felt.
… Coaches told me they felt Bars was the most severely judged apparatus, so far.
The Men will also have reference judges. They’ve been added to all FIG disciplines, part of Grandi’s campaign for justice. (A campaign that swung into high gear after MAG judges bungled the 2004 Olympics.)
