I empower my Cheerios to be champions.
Do they go onto college? I don’t know, I don’t care.
Should they learn Spanish? Sure, if they wanna become dishwashers and gardeners. But if they want to be bankers and lawyers and captains of industry, the most important lesson they could possibly learn is how to do a round off.
The Chinese Gymnastics Blog is following the story of Chinese judge Shao Bin sanctioned by FIG for blatantly cheating during the Floor Exercise final of the Asian Games.
From what we’ve heard, that judge is guilty.
Pan Chenfei, Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Gymnastics Association, in a March 17th press conference made the expected noises on the issue.
But some interesting new questions were raised:
Adrian Stoica, FIG Men’s Technical Committee President and President of the Romanian Gymnastics Federation, served as FIG technical representative during the 2010 Asian Games. He was responsible for signing off on the results of that meet.
Why the 4+ months delay?
Was this the only case of score changing at that meet?
… It sounds like there might have been more.

Brigid on Facebook has heard that this routine could be 6.7 if everything is credited.
The Couch Gymnast linked to the Youtube channel Ginnastica Artistica Gymnasium TV, which will become the new favorite of all hard-core U.S. fans for the next four days. Why? Because the U.S. women are in Jesolo, and said channel has training videos.

Congratulations Kyna.
Gymnastics Canada has announced the appointment of Ms. Kyna Fletcher as the new Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) National Team Director.
As an NCCP Level IV coach, sport administrator, BC Provincial Coach and passionate volunteer chair of the GCG WAG Program Assembly for the past 12 years, Ms. Fletcher brings a broad range of knowledge and expertise to this new position. Her professional work experience and interpersonal skills will be a great asset for the federation.
More recently, Ms. Fletcher has taken on additional responsibilities with Gymnastics Canada to include a leadership role with the WAG National Team. She has been the WAG Team Leader to the 2010 Pacific Rim Championships and 2010 World Championships and coordinating National Team program preparation activities such as training camps and sport science program support.
Ms. Fletcher has a very good understanding of the Canadian gymnastics delivery system and a leadership and communication style that brings people together. She is passionate about gymnastics and very excited to join the Gymnastics Canada staff.
As the WAG National Team Director, Ms. Fletcher will be responsible for the direction and management of the Senior, Junior and Youth National Team Programs. She will work closely with the Program Director, the coaches of National Team athletes and other technical advisers to the National Team program.
I see no mention of the appointment on Gymnastics Canada.
