Doha – Peng Peng – Beam

Fan favourite Christine Peng Peng Lee fell twice. But this was still Stoi’s favourite Doha routine.

Love the Barani. … But I wish Peng Peng would go back to her double twisting front layout dismount. That was cool.

She’s verbally committed to UCLA. (Miss Val signed her before she had even made the big comeback. Peng Peng’s got killer charisma live.)

Only a few of the best in the world can do kip that way, including this young Chinese gymnast.

in praise of OLD SCHOOL coaching

60 Minutes did a glowing profile on a tough, successful basketball coach. … Not everyone will agree with his draconian methods.

St. Anthony in Jersey City, N.J., doesn’t even have its own gym, but it has Coach Bob Hurley, who has taken the team, now ranked number-one in the nation, to 24 state championships.

Michigan – Workout Wednesday

A nice edit by Anne from Gymnastike:

This week’s gymnastics workout video features one of the top NCAA teams in the country and the Big 10 Champions, the University of Michigan. This workout was filmed just a couple weeks before the Wolverines won their 5th straight Big 10 team title. In the national rankings, senior Kylee Botterman has held the #1 ranking in the all around most of the season and Michigan has consistently been in the top 10. UM will be hosting one of six NCAA Regional Championships this weekend (TODAY) and plan to be one of 12 teams to advance to the 2011 NCAA National Championships.

Not the best routine I’ve seen him do. Still, the Arab superstar won both prelims and Finals in his own region. Congratulations.

Super talent. But not as fantastic as I expected. Form and tightness need to be improved considerably for her to contend in the AA at the Olympics.

A bit shaky, and I’m not just talking about the hand held camcorder.
