The International Gymnastics Hall of Fame will celebrate the careers of four gymnastics legends this May in Oklahoma City: Vera Caslavska (Czech Republic), Zoltan Magyar (Hungary), Natalia Shaposhnikova (Russia) and Kim Zmeskal (USA).
The class of 2012 — having won a combined 19 Olympic and 21 world championships medals — will be feted May 19 at the Petroleum Club in Oklahoma City.

Shaposhnikova, one of my favourite gymnasts, was coached by the infamous Vladislav Rastorotsky, a bear of a man. We were mightily unimpressed by the brute the one time I saw him live at a Canadian meet.
Her Bars in 1979 were considered insanely original and difficult.

As usual, that’s going to be a very interesting invitational. The list of Russians expected to compete includes MUSTAFINA.
Good to see Rebecca back. I’m not sure she’ll be doing the AA there, however.
No Romania this year.
A little tentative this time out.

Saving her BEST for Pacific Rim. 🙂
Living in Canada, most of our examples of BAD coaching come from Ice Hockey.
Dauphin Kings coach Marlin Murray went ballistic Thursday night during a playoff game at Winnipeg’s St. James Civic Centre.
… Murray threw sticks, water bottles and what appeared to be medical supplies at the referees during a stoppage in play.
The Kings lost the game 5-1 to the Winnipeg Saints and now trail the best-of-seven Sher-Wood Division series 3-1 despite finishing with the second-best regular season record.

Sounds like Murray had a legitimate grievance with the “judges”.
But losing emotional control only resulted in getting suspended and fined an undisclosed amount by the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
His team was later eliminated from the playoffs.
At College meets, Floor is my favourite apparatus. By far.
Not so at FIG meets.
But Gymnix seems to have had dozens of entertaining Floor Exercises.

Lauren won Floor and Beam in the SENIOR CUP.
