Iordache training Amanar, Izbasa Cheng

Fangymnastics linked to a news clip with Larisa Iordache training Amanar and Sandra Izbasa a Cheng.

Andy Thornton calculates that it could help put Romania on the podium as a Team, despite weak Bars.

I’m skeptical. Many girls train those vaults on to resi-pit, but don’t compete them. Brenna Dowell from GAGE has a terrific Amanar, for example, but it isn’t consistent nor safe enough to use in competition on hard mats.

I’ll believe it IF they try them in the friendly in Bucharest this week.

remix for Nastia

… tribute to Nastia Liukin, class act, hell of a career, remix of Gym Class Heroes and Ryan Tedder’s hit the Fighter

Or you can download the track free.

Thanks Chris.

visiting Byers today …

Debbie Broderick Rodriguez and her husband Eli run one of the top gyms in the USA, Byers Gymnastics Center Elk Grove, near Sacramento, California.

I told their children that Mom was the hardest working gymnast at Altadore Gymnastics … back in the day. AND that she listened to her coaches.

Somebody named Chellsie was there yesterday.

Hard act to follow? πŸ™‚

GIFs hit mainstream media

GIFs are very popular on Tumblr. But I’ve not seen many on blogs or on the websites of news organizations. Until now.

Check out The AtlanticGet to Know Your U.S. Gymnastics Team Through GIFs

The RIGHT GIF can be very interesting for coaches. If they include the critical points on a skill.

Thanks Claudine.

Gabby 25.8 vs Vika 25.4

Gymnast #391 tried to calculate possible maximum start score for Gabby Douglas 25.8 and Viktoria Komova 25.4 in London.

If Vika competes Amanar instead of DTY, her start would go to 26.1.

The highest score credited in one competition in 2012, according to The All Around WAG Rankings, was Douglas with 25.5.

Consistency is the issue for both.

Trampoline Slo Mo

It’s difficult to watch Tramp routines on YouTube. Too much is happening, too fast, for the resolution.

Brett MacAulay posted this optional routine in slow motion. I can see much, much more. πŸ™‚

What Happened to Betty Okino

Betty Okino was a fan favourite Olympic gymnast for USA.

Her mother is Romanian, her father Ugandan. Good genetics for gymnastics. πŸ™‚

@EOTL_BettyOkino is sending out a link to this … unusual video. Some kind of art piece edit?

Click PLAY or watch it on YouTube.

What is Betty doing these days?

She’s not been acting in recent years.

surprise challenger Elizabeth Price

Any other nation in the world would be competing Elizabeth “Ebee” Price in the all-around in London.

That pic is from a Gymnastike interview with Gina Mueller.

She could legitimately score 60+.

That’s the kind of depth USA has right now.

What’s next for Elizabeth?

… She will be back in the Parkettes National Training Center on Wednesday morning for a shakedown workout. On July 11, she will leave for an Olympic team training camp at the Karolyi ranch … After that, she and the other replacement gymnasts, Anna Li and Sarah Finnegan, will go to Birmingham, England, to train during the Olympics while the team is in London. …

Morning Call

Want to know more?

… Elizabeth trains 7:00am to 3:00pm at Parkettes. Is home schooled. … Loves Justin Beiber. …

If there’s any minor injury, or even inconsistency in routine training of the A-team, don’t be surprised to see Elizabeth get the call up.

She’s made no decision on whether to train for the next Olympic cycle. But I’m quite sure she’ll be contending for medals at Worlds soon.

Vault – Mckayla v Alicia

Olympic Trials Day 2

It’s easy to complain that the girls were over-scored in San Jose. But truly these two would be the best two Olympic Vault finalists in the world.
