Splash -The Stars Will Fall

Splash made a huge, uh, splash Tuesday.

ABC’s diving competition series premiered to 8.8 million viewers and a 2.6 in the adults 18-to-49 demographic, making it the network’s biggest unscripted series debut in more than two years and the highest-rated reality premiere since The X Factor in 2011.

MAG – Intl Jr Team Cup – Berlin

One of the most important Men’s Age Group competitions in the world. Many of these names you’ll see competing Senior at Worlds, one day.

Russia took the team title Saturday at the 18th International Junior Team Cup, a boys competition held in Berlin.

corner rule – wait and see

Many have mocked the new “corner rule” in women’s gymnastics.

I intensely disliked many small backward steps into the corner, as we saw in the last Code.

Anything would be better. This is better.

Over time interesting ways will evolve. Corners choreography will improve.

… But if I was Nellie Kim, I’d push to allow up to a 2 second stop before each tumbling line. Deduct steps and hops 0.1. And ask gymnasts to find a graceful way to get into the corner.

UCLA gymnast Vanessa Zamarripa scored the eighth perfect 10 of her career on vault on Mar. 17, 2013.

Many mock the “perfect” 10 in College gymnastics. But that’s closer to a 10.0 than the 9.20 it would have scored in FIG competition.

College scores have escalated this season. More than past years.

The judging at Utah’s upset over Florida has drawn more wrath online than any other meet.
