They should use 6 judges in prelims, as well.

Those who criticize Collegiate gymnastics scoring take note.

Friday’s judging panel were unable to come up fewer than 24 vaults for an 8 vault final.

That’s embarrassing.

The good news — only 1 vault will be competed Sunday, unlike the scary past where finalists had to chuck some second vault they rarely train.

The bad news — Saturday’s Super 6 Team Vault judging panel was even less discriminating than Friday. 😦

Let’s see if they can manage not to have a 12 way tie for gold on Vault in apparatus finals today.

Obviously they need to change Championships vault scoring. What works for a dual meet mid-season does not work with this many competitors.

After beginning the meet with two falls on beam, the #1 ranked Florida Gators did the unthinkable in rallying back to win the program’s first ever NCAA National Title!

The biggest difference from years past is Sloan. The routine hitting machine. Almost 4 guaranteed 9.9s.

They should have had her later up in the line-up. 🙂

The Gators had to come back from a counting fall on Beam. Impressive.

Bridget Sloan had a 39.75 AA. Perhaps slightly over-scored. But she is one routine hitting machine.

Close as the scores were, somehow the competition wasn’t as thrilling as prelims.

Judging seemed to be more erratic than Friday. Though this time Oklahoma got some credit for their wonderful Beam.

Florida had the top performer in all four events. Freshman Bridget Sloan had the top performance on both the vault and balance beam with 9.95s, junior Alaina Johnson scored a 9.95 on the bars, and sophomore Kytra Hunter had a 9.975 on floor—the highest score of the day. …
