People have been comparing that stick to the great Dragalescu himself.

Cirque’s Marceline Goldstein remarked at how much the fitness of competitors has improved over the 10 years or so Cirque’s been attending.

Too bad we don’t keep stats on sticks. There were more sticks in Session 1 than I can recall at a Championships prelim session. And very few falls.

Florida, LSU, Georgia

Florida, LSU and Georgia get through to the Super 6.

Florida 197.775
LSU 197.325
Georgia 197.150
Minnesota 196.375
Illinois 195.700
Stanford 194.700

LSU

Don’t let the scores fool you. It was a strong competition. I hope the judges don’t escalate in the session with UCLA.

Only Stanford left much disappointed with performance under pressure.

… It really was a bad day for the Cardinal. 😦

NCAA Session 1
AA: 1. Bridget Sloan, UF 39.6 2. Rheagan Courville, LSU 39.575, 3(t) Emily Wong, NU and Marissa King, UF, 39.525

GymCastic – Uncle Tim – Quick Hits: 2013 NCAA Championships Prelims

Visions Gymnastics, South Africa

My last night in the country I squeezed in a visit to Visions on invitation of F.I.G. expert Derick Scholtz (Head Coach & co-owner).

Great gym competing both WAG and MAG at the highest levels.

In recent years they’ve also competed U.S. Independent Gymnastics Clubs competitions. With good success.

Brigid Couch Gymnast McCarthy:

Well, I am an Oleg x 2 devotee, but I gotta give it to Belyavskiy, whom I also love, that was a great meet for him and a delight for the home crowd. Love his floor work so much. This is a very, very nice podium, really.

Examiner – 2013 Euros notes: Men’s AA final

Belyavskiy – Tsuk double pike went 15.4. Whitlock put a knee down on Shewfelt scoring 14.433. That cost him the AA.
