Fadwa Muhammad – Prodnova

Egyptian gymnast Fadwa Mohamed competed Handspring double front on Vault at the World Cup meet this weekend. And did not get zero.

Shergymrag did some follow-up, finding another one in competition at African Championships 2012.

Click PLAY or watch it on YouTube.

Totally dangerous, the execution judges should have been very severe.

Yet Fadwa scored 14.275 and ended up winning Vault. (PDF)

If one of these marginal handspring double front vaults results in catastrophic injury, how are Nellie Kim and FIG going to answer questions from the media?

Gabby Jupp ACL

British champion Gabby had been on scintillating form going into the European event, but an anterior cruciate ligament tear put paid to her chances of claiming a medal for Great Britain.

“I kind of heard a snap but I didn’t know how bad it was,” said Gabby. “I’ve got an operation in a few weeks but I’ve been told I probably won’t be able to compete for about a year. …

Injured Gabby Jupp vows to bounce back

I knew she’d traveled to the USA. But was not sure why.

Aliya… Aliya’s gold in the AA deserves credit. In spite of everything, she was able to collect herself, to compete and to win important medals.

Yet, I want her preparation to be more precise because if things have not been worked through, it’s dangerous to compete, there is more risk of injuries. But Aliya is a fighter, she did everything she was able to do the second day. …

Florida makes five

Lea AKA Manual on Handstands was at UCLA to see her favourite team FINALLY win NCAA Championships.

… After the second fall on beam, my heart was in my throat. I knew that Florida wasn’t out of it, as I felt that the Gators were approximately 0.500 better in scoring potential than any other team on the floor. Knowing Florida could come back was one thing. Seeing the Gators actually achieve that comeback was absolutely incredible. …
