D-score: Either 6.3 or 6.4 (I believe this should be a 6.4, but she received a 6.3 in the team and event finals and also at the European Championships – see my D-score analysis below)
E-score: 8.6 or 8.7!
Final score: 15.0
Did you catch that? She received an E-score of 8.6 or 8.7 (depending on what D-score they gave) for that beautiful, nearly flawless routine. I’d say a 9.6 would be way more accurate.

The Men’s judges are almost as bad. I feel, sadly, that FIG Executive should step in and insist that MTC and WTC start producing a greater range in Execution scores between worst and first.
When Nellie Kim got perfect 10s in 1976, she “deserved” them. Nellie and Nadia were that much better than the rest.

The Tuesday night show will be dedicated to the memory of Sarah Guillot-Guyard (a.k.a. Sasoun) the 31-year-old performer who fell more than 25 metres to her death during a performance of Ka on June 29.
For the time being, Ka will be presented without the Battle Scene act during which Guillot-Guyard lost her life. …

GBR wins Men’s EYOF
Great Britain takes the … 2013 men’s team title with 169.55 points, followed by Russia (167.3), Italy, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Hungary, the Netherlands and Turkey.
Britain’s Brinn Bevan maintains his first subdivision lead in all-around qualification with 84.75. Chasing him in the final will be his teammate Nile Wilson (83.75), Russians Valentin Starikov and Kirill Potapov.
Fifth in all-around qualification (not including the third Russian, who was technically fifth), is Turkey’s Ahmet Onder, a brand-new face on the international scene.

How many times have you said, “Watch the BEAM” ??
Why doesn’t someone invent a Beam training aid designed to give gymnasts more visual feedback?
That’s the brainchild of coaching legend Leonard Isaac. He first showed it to Tammy Biggs, Kathryn Geddert, Chellsie Memmel and Tumbl Trak Staff in March.

Having worked with the new floor Beam for weeks now, it’s clear to me that more visual information is better than a blank Beam. But that each gymnasts uses that information in different ways.
It’s most helpful for asymmetric skills (cartwheels, aerial cartwheel, layout step out, backward handspring stepout, side somi, etc.)
