Men’s Gymnastics in 2013 is astoundingly difficult. To qualify to a Final at Worlds in Belgium will require a super high start score and great execution.

Biles came out of the gates strong on the uneven bars, moving nimbly through an intricate piked Tkatchev to Pak salto combination to score 14.750. On the balance beam, Biles was solid again and stuck her full-twisting double back. She earned a 14.900. In rotation three, Biles got the crowd going on the floor where her tumbling nearly hung in the rafters. She executed a tucked double double, a double layout and tucked full-in for a 15.050. In the final rotation, Biles performed an Amanar vault to score 15.800. Biles posted the highest scores of the night on balance beam and floor exercise. …
2012 Olympic team champion McKayla Maroney of Long Beach, Calif./All Olympia, earned a 14.850 for her floor routine that included a double layout, two-and-a-half twist to punch front full, and a double Arabian. On vault, where she is the reigning World champion, she performed an Amanar, which received a 15.700. Maroney performed a Yurchenko half-on to layout front full second vault and scored 15.300, giving her the highest two-vault average of the competition, 15.500.

Her solid set, including two flip flops to a back layout, a switch ring leap and two flip flops to a triple twist dismount score, scored 15.350 points, tying for the highest beam score of the event. In the second rotation, Key earned the highest floor score of the competition, 14.800 points, opening with an Arabian double front to stag jump and finishing with a double pike. On vault, Key’s double-twisting Yurchenko earned 15.100 points and she finished the competition on uneven bars, where she scored 13.950 points.
Hernandez, the only athlete to earn scores higher than 14.000 points on all four events, is currently in second place. …
