McKayla Maroney – interview

This is what a STAR looks like.

Following podium training #WChAntwerp.

I’m campaigning for McKayla to win the Longines Prize for Elegance.

Vasiliki Millousi is my second choice. … Unfortunately, I’ve been told that a gymnast must be in the AA Final to be considered.

@sporteverywh:

McKayla Maroney has a 24.2 programme: 6.3 on VT, 5.9 on UB, 5.9 on BB and 6.1 on FX.

She had a fall on Beam Aerial. But aside from that, looked better than ever.

McKayla could make the U.S. 2014 Worlds Team with these routines.

Shang Chunsong – Beam

Excellent.

I think her form will improve as she gets older. She still has the “bumpy” knees of a little girl.

Interesting that I’ve seen nobody question her age.

She looks younger than He Kexin in 2008.

Aliya Podium training today

Can the 2010 World Champion up her difficulty, hit 4/4 and again win the title at #WChAntwerp?

I wouldn’t be surprised.

She’s been very consistent in big meets despite adversity.

In advance, watch a Russian TV news fluff piece in English on vk.com.

Update:

Aliya’s new Floor routine in Podium training impresses. But her energy level and tumbling are not strong. Twisting no cleaner.

In terms of readiness for this meet, she’s not in the same league as Simone and Kyla.

Nabieva is out of Worlds. 😦 She hit her head training Floor. Or is she? … Tatiana has been quoted saying she’s out of Podium training, but not necessarily out of the competition. Medical assessment underway.

Noel van Klaveren – Vault

One of the few gymnasts (aside from Simone) that made me go WOW in the 3rd of 5 #WChAntwerp Podium sessions was Noel.

Her YDT was stunning. Better than this one from Europeans that went 9.1 execution.

She’s added a half twist to the second vault.

Hoping she makes the Final. 🙂

Simone Biles – slow mo Amanar

If Podium was the AA Final, Simone would have won.

Let’s hope she can duplicate those routines when it counts. 🙂

She only trained Yurchenko half on, layout half off today as her second vault.
