Having just complained about the “communication” from Gymnastics Canada, here’s a good new profile piece posted on their YouTube channel.

With just over two years to go until the next Summer Olympics the competition is already heating up on the Canadian women’s gymnastics team.

And one of the top contenders is Rose-Kaying Woo, a junior from Montreal, who has has been turning heads this year with several strong all around performances.

* The second Olympic qualification will be held at the Test Events in Rio de Janeiro (BRA), from April 16 – 24, 2016.

Recall that the London Test Events were in early January 2012. Bad timing, so close to Christmas and New Years, for many of the athletes.

April is better. Overall. But finding out so late whether or not your nation qualified for the Olympics is going to be even more stressful than it was in 2012.

Good news.

At its recent meeting, the National Gymnastics Foundation allocated up to $300,000 during a three-year period to be devoted to strengthening men’s and women’s collegiate gymnastics at the varsity level. …

The NGF Board identified three objectives for this effort: to support the growth of men’s and women’s NCAA varsity programs; to assist endowment initiatives at men’s and women’s NCAA varsity programs; and to provide grants for NCAA gymnastics programs as requested from either the NCAA or its member institutions. …

What is the National Gymnastics Foundation?

The National Gymnastics Foundation was created by the organization’s leadership from the financial windfall distribution from the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Proceeds totaling $1.4 million from the 1984 Olympics were used to establish the Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Currently, the holdings of the NGF exceed $11 million.

In addition to (Robert) Wood, the members of the NGF Board of Directors are: Rita Brown, George Drew, Nastia Liukin, Jeff Metzger, Dominick Minicucci, Bruno Klaus, Conrad Voorsanger and Sallie Weaver.
