We’ve got a big and (hopefully healthy) field of MAG competitors, as well.
The All Around posted a document on Facebook listing new elements submitted for addition to the WAG Code following European Championships 2014.
SuperGymmie put together a video showing some of those elements. (One has been edited to show what it must have looked like.)
Click PLAY or watch it on YouTube.
Are these skills approved? Or only submitted?
Thanks Avril.

That’s the headline on philly.com:
If pledges turn into checks, Fred Turoff will have a 39th season as Temple’s men’s gymnastics coach.
His team won’t be a varsity program after it was cut by the athletic department. As a club team, it won’t be allowed to practice while the varsity women are using the equipment, he said. And Turoff has to clear out of his office, which is practically a gymnastics hall of fame. …

Congratulations.
Coach Valery Alfosov and Ablyazin himself were happily surprised with the medal haul.

Somewhat surprisingly, the Australian selectors have gone for a different tactic, steering away from the stacked All-Arounder team, the likes of which saw us sweep the medals in 2010. Instead, they decided to go with one AAer and 4 event specialists naming Georgia-Rose Brown, Olivia Vivian, Lauren Mitchell, Larissa Miller and Mary-Anne Monckton.
Most noticeable in their absence are newly crowned national champion Georgia Godwin, 2013 national champion and 2014 runner up Maddi Leydin and 3rd place AA, Kiara Munteanu. …

I’m not that surprised. I believe Peggy (and perhaps the “new guy”, David Kenwright) are assuming that GBR and CAN are not beatable in the Team and/or AA competition. The Aussie strategy for 2014 will be to maximize their chances for apparatus medals.
The AA gymnasts will be needed for Worlds 2014, I expect. It’s the start of the Team Olympic qualifying process.

Uncle Tim did some number crunching. Under various sets of FIG rules the lowest scoring apparatus for these nations was …
Russia since 2006 = Pommels
USA since 2006 = Pommels by a MILE 😦
Japan since 2006 = Pommels
China since 2006 = Pommels
Russia under the 10 = Pommels
USA under the 10 = Pommels
Japan under the 10 = Floor
China under the 10 = Floor

If you discount Pommels, Horizontal Bar has been Russia’s weak apparatus for decades.
Athletes, coaches, judges and even the superheros from TAISO Saskatoon are en route to Ottawa for the Canadian National Championships. Good luck to everyone.
