I’ll watch any routine that includes an interesting, original corner move. They are as rare in 2014 as Pommel Horse droppings. 🙂

Ebee – Going Out on Top

Beam Dreams has a nice retrospective on Elizabeth Price, the A-team girl who chose NCAA over Worlds.

Marta’s nightmare.

… 2014 … the Year of Ebee. She won the all-around in both international competitions she competed at early this year – the American Cup and the Pacific Rim Championship. She won the all-around in the FIG World Cup Series. …

Price seemed to be a lock for this year’s World Championship team, and a definite top contender for the all-around world title. …

You get the feeling that Stanford will be a “contender” next season. Ebee will add consistency, toughness. And star power.

Men’s European Championships

My best guess is that Russia will have the highest start scores. But can they hit those huge routines?

GBR will be ready. And hit.

Canada could have a much stronger pool of gymnasts to choose from for 2016 than they did in 2012. If everyone stays healthy.

Having just complained about the “communication” from Gymnastics Canada, here’s a good new profile piece posted on their YouTube channel.

With just over two years to go until the next Summer Olympics the competition is already heating up on the Canadian women’s gymnastics team.

And one of the top contenders is Rose-Kaying Woo, a junior from Montreal, who has has been turning heads this year with several strong all around performances.

Rose-Kaying has a very good track record for hitting in competition.

Olympic Test Events in April

Gymnastics Canada via email:

FIG PRESS RELEASE

… published by the FIG Executive Committee at the close of its ordinary meeting, May 07- 08, 2014, in Kuwait City (KUW) …

* The second Olympic qualification will be held at the Test Events in Rio de Janeiro (BRA), from April 16 – 24, 2016.

Recall that the London Test Events were in early January 2012. Bad timing, so close to Christmas and New Years, for many of the athletes.

April is better. Overall. But finding out so late whether or not your nation qualified for the Olympics is going to be even more stressful than it was in 2012.
