Here are a couple of samples.

What a shame the Cubans so rarely compete internationally. 😦

Has anyone tried this new score keeping app?
If so, leave a comment.
In this first release FLICKFLAPP contains a glossary explaining the specific terminology in gymnastics. An extensive analysis and profiling of the ten transcending skills of gymnastics, supported with images and animations.
Also featuring in this version is Score Sheet, in which the user can enter scores during matches. The app calculates the intermediate ranks and scores in real-time, giving you the full overview of the gymnast’s achievements. No more paper notes and calculators…
Most of these are true. 🙂
2) The open-ended Code of Points has fixed the problem of too many ties, and nothing else.
5) The real difference between a 9.90 and 10.0 in NCAA women’s gymnastics is 0.40. (You know what I mean, don’t you?)
8) Gymnasts who over-celebrate after an average routine look foolish.
9) Gymnasts who don’t celebrate after an awesome routine show class.
20) The next women’s all-around world champion is anyone’s guess.

While videotaping Gymnastics Games for Tumbl Trak last week we tried something new.
Monitoring heart rates of children while they played.

The kids are wearing a simple, light weight monitoring device.
This is all part of a bigger project collecting data for how we can get normal kids to do more aerobic training in schools.
Thanks to Twisters Gymnastics for hosting. 🙂
The third edition of the Battle of the Bars at the Los Angeles Fit Expo 2014 organised by the World Calisthenics Organisation!
The second day of competition was dedicated to the open calisthenic competition!
This reminds me of the “playground gymnastics” in Russia formalized into a competition. Judged on:
Strength & Control
Endurance
Balance/Agility
Creativity/Acrobatics/Crowd Interaction
Technique/ Execution

Whittenburg posted a 87.950 for the event’s highest all-around score.
Paul Ruggeri of Manlius, N.Y./Team Hilton HHonors (U.S. Olympic Training Center), was next at 87.200, with 2013 World bronze-medalist John Orozco of the Bronx, N.Y./Team Hilton HHonors (U.S. Olympic Training Center), at 86.450.
Leyva posted an 86.250 at the Qualifier to qualify. For the list of the men’s qualifiers with the National Points Ranking System, go to usagym.org. …
Those aren’t great scores, even for this early in the season.
Whittenburg is looking like a good call for Worlds, however. A strong all-arounder who could count for the Team on both Pommels and Rings.
