Danell was deserving World Champ in 2011.

There are two new guys at Worlds that everyone is talking about. The first is Donnell WHITTENBURG USA, just turned age-20, sitting 4th in prelims AA with 89.631. Donnell has got crazy potential.

The other is 18yr-old Nile Wilson GBR, a beautiful gymnast, fantastic for his age. Nile scored 88.323 and knocked teammate Max Whitlock out of the AA Final.

Nile will qualify to the H Bar Final.

It’s been a great MAG Worlds. Much stronger than in 2013.

But the Horizontal Bar final is weak.

Uchimura sits in 2nd spot so far with only 15.200 (6.900 + 8.300)

Judging is tougher than in 2013. But many of the top guys did not hit perfectly.

Fabian yet to compete.

Everybody loves Oleg. But he was over-scored on this set in prelims.

Oleg has the second highest score (so far) going into the Final. Leyva is the favourite, I’d say,

Team USA finished first as a team on what’s traditionally been their weakest apparatus.

1980 Olympic all-around champion Elena Davidova is one of the Vault judges. She coached Kristina Vaculik to Olympics 2012.

Ariana Berlin’s comeback story was made for Hollywood: Nearly-fatal car accident ends a young girl’s Olympic gymnastics aspirations. Girl turns to dance but does not give up her other dream of competing for the UCLA Gymnastics team. Girl gets an opportunity to make the team at UCLA and ends up becoming an All-American.

… art is now imitating life, as Berlin’s story is being turned into a movie called Full Out.
