Yes we all know that NCAA MAG scores are a little on the generous side. Nobody pretends these routines would be scored the same at Worlds.

On the other hand, this was one extremely good athletic performance. One these guys will never forget.

The No. 1 ranked OU men’s gymnastics team posted a team score on Saturday evening inside McCasland Field House that many who closely cover the sport deemed unreachable.

When people saw the final score of 456.400 come across their social media feeds, countless double takes and questions ensued about how such a mark was even possible. Here are the ingredients that made up the unforgettable evening. …

13yr-old Felix was in the lead up until the dismount of his Horizontal Bar routine. Unfortunately he under rotated his double twisting double layout.

Too bad.

That would have made history. Félix is very good. Very young.

She is an Olympic Gold medalist with the Soviet Team from Seoul 1988. Second AA at the 1989 Worlds.

Since 1999 Natasha’s been coaching in the USA, producing a number of College scholarship gymnasts. Those include her daughter Sasha Tsikhanovich.

But the family has had immigration problems in the States.

If you haven’t had a chance to watch the LSU/Auburn meet from Friday yet, you really should. High-quality gymnastics in a competitive meet that went down to the final routine and was not defined by judging insanity (almost entirely). It was a good reminder of what’s fun about college gymnastics.

I have to think that if Caitlin Atkinson had been in on floor, Auburn would have won. …
