SEC Championship TODAY

For some fans the Southeastern Conference Championships is the most important meet of the year. Bragging rights. 🙂

… things get started earlier than normal with the first session of Big Tens beginning at 11:30 ET.

EVENING SESSION: Florida, LSU, Alabama, Auburn

Florida enters as the top-ranked team and the easiest pick to win, but LSU does have a victory over Florida this year and is pretty much on par with the Gators in most areas, and probably stronger in a couple.

The Sloan and Courville factors will be fascinating to watch. Courville has missed some serious time lately, but LSU needs her badly—especially on bars. Sloan is just getting back into the AA at the perfect time, but she still has some rust on beam and hasn’t done floor yet. The fight will be to see which AA star is able to contribute more championship-caliber routines. That could be decisive …

AFTERNOON SESSION: Georgia, Arkansas, Kentucky, Missouri

As much of an ego blow as it is for Georgia to be placed in the training wheels session of SECs, there’s a chance it may be a blessing. Georgia is the best team in this session, and compared to the other teams, their routines are going to look really 9.9y. Plus, they’re basically at home. …

Gymnix Invitational – a review

#gymnix2015

Surprisingly, this was my first time attending this important competition, one I follow online every year. It’s easily the best meet in the nation.

The BIG gym is gorgeous. The only podium competition in Canada, including Nationals.

Kennedy Gymnix 2015

Gym B has a mini-podium for Floor. A very nice touch for the younger girls aspiring to compete, one day, in the main Hall.

Gymnova Canada, based out of Montreal, do a terrific job equipping the meet.

Of course the famed Gymnix club is in the same sports facility. Team Canada held a training camp here the week prior to the 2015 meet.

The highlight of Gymnix is the the Junior International Cup, one of the best Junior team competitions in the world. The 2015 edition was super. I hope Marta Karolyi’s successor decides to send an American Jr Team.

Unlike most of the “rest of Canada”, Quebec is not switching over to the American Jr Olympic rules. Happy with their WAG program now, Quebec remains separate and distinct.

WiFi is free at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex, but as in most big venues tends to crap out when too many spectators are logged in to one router at the same time. Have a data plan if you want to be sure to connect from the venue.

Merci boucoup @IntlGymnix. Thanks for the hard work of your staff and volunteers.
