should the NCAA boycott Indiana?

On USA Today, Nancy Armour proposes the NCAA boycott the State of Indiana:

The NCAA should be applauded for swiftly and strongly expressing its disapproval of Indiana’s new law that cloaks discrimination in “religious freedom.”…

“The NCAA national office and our members are deeply committed to providing an inclusive environment for all our events,” NCAA president Mark Emmert said in a statement shortly after Pence signed the law Thursday.

“We are especially concerned about how this legislation could affect our student-athletes and employees.” …

NCAA’s next moves should be out of Indiana

That’s in reaction to dinosaur Governor Mike Pence signing the so-called “Religious Freedom” bill into law Thursday.

… Indiana protecting discrimination, effectively allowing businesses to deny service to gays and lesbians based on religious beliefs …

The 2015 P&G Gymnastics Championships are scheduled for Aug. 13-16 in Indianapolis, Indiana. USAG’s offices are in Indianapolis.

I trust Steve Penney will quickly make a statement. Where does the U.S. Gymnastics Federation stand vis-a-vis the new Indiana State law?

Update from Steve Penney:

“USA Gymnastics provides the opportunity to participate in gymnastics to all athletes, regardless of an individual’s religious, ethnic or cultural background, or sexual orientation. One of USA Gymnastics’ hallmarks is its inclusion and diversity. We do not accept any form of discrimination toward our community or attendees at our events, and we are concerned about the possible impact of this law. We will work closely with the Indiana Sports Corp. and the mayor to better understand how this development might be contrary to hosting successful events that are open and welcoming to everyone.”

The lads from Australia posted their first online panel TV show.

It includes an older interview with Aussie Olympian Emily Little. And a Coach’s Corner section with Andrew Cordery. Giant swing.

It’s geared for a general audience rather than only Gymnastics insiders.

MAG has historically done a good job. WAG has been wildly inconsistent and hilariously wrong over the decades. The current Code still has two different spellings for the name of this legend:

Schuschunova (Bars)
Schuschunova (Floor)

Shushunova (Beam)

It’s Shushunova in wikipedia. Shushunova in the IG Hall of Fame.
