Biles or Uchimura?

Which is more dominant in their sport right now?

It’s Simone.

See this beautiful photo on twitter.

Jesolo Sr – USA, Simone Biles win

You’d have to call Jesolo a ‘friendly competition’. A chance for others to compete against an all-star team of the best American gymnasts available.

Simone Biles 62.100
Bailey Key 59.500
Aly Raisman 59.100
Gabby Douglas 58.900
Alyssa Baumann 58.700
Erika Fasana 57.550

Gymternet is posting full results in an easy to read format.

Still, it’s a good lead up towards selection for the American Team to Worlds 2015. Obviously Aly and Gabby’s comebacks are for real. 🙂

fundraising for a Gymnastics Floor

Swakopmund Gymnastics Club in Namibia has a terrific new facility.

Swakopmund

Aside from that … Floor.

Most of the club’s training equipment and apparatus are in very good condition with the exception of the floor. The current floor’s support structure is worn out and needs to be replaced (the current floor is also much smaller than the competition sized floor required for effective training and coaching).

Apart from being able to offer better training to our gymnasts a new floor would also make it possible for the club to host competitions. A new floor is expensive and in order to raise the amount of money required we launched a “Square by Square” campaign. This campaign makes it possible to recognize every contribution, no matter how small and works as follows: The new floor has a surface area of 196 square meters and costs N$350 000, translating to a cost of roughly N$1800 per square meter. Businesses and individuals now have the opportunity to “buy” a section of the floor. One square meter can be bought for N$1800 while a quarter of a square can be purchased for N$450 allowing for contributions of all “sizes”. …

Square by Square project

Great idea. 🙂

The OLD gym required kids to train Tsuk and Yurchenko running on rubber mats from the parking lot.
