Click through to see progressions we deem essential for ALL male and female Artistic gymnasts.
Beginner ➡ Young Competitive ➡ Rapid Growth ➡ Adult
Beginner (age 5-7)
Young Competitive (age 7 to puberty)
Rapid Growth Competitive (puberty until growth plates seal)
Puberty usually occurs in girls between the ages of 10 and 14, while in boys it generally occurs later, between the ages of 12 and 16. There are exceptions outside that range. Gymnasts are often late maturers.
At this point we are not including preschool content.
It’s a work in progress, not comprehensive. Leave a comment if you have an essential progression to add.
Demonstrators in videos have not mastered every progression. Consider whether or not the progression might work for your athletes, don’t evaluate quality of the demonstrator.
