GBR crazy good

The home team dazzled. Really, really impressive performance. 🙂 And the scary thing is (for their competitors) … both Downie sisters fell on Bars. Imagine what they would have scored if they had HIT.

Japan, Canada leading at Worlds

so far … #Glasgow2015

Japan had a fantastic meet. I could see them finishing as high as 4th in prelims.

Canada had an excellent competition, as well.

College girl Brittany Rogers is back and looks even better than at the Olympics when Canada finished an historic 5th as a team.

MVP of the day just might have to go to Victoria Woo who competed 1st on all 4 apparatus. And rocked it.

Obviously a vault landed that deeply and dangerously should suffer greater deduction. The FIG WTC rules clearly do not work. 😦

Second vault was Tsuk with 1 1/2 twist. (5.5/14.60 for 14.683 average)

we love Roxana Popa

Here’s why.

She came back from serious surgery to try to help her team qualify to the Olympics at #Glasgow2015. And missed on her only apparatus in prelims – Bars.

Spain was super enthusiastic. A big group of fans cheering them on 1st session in Glasgow.

Romanian meltdown

Here’s the pre-competition post from Bea Gheorghisor – World Team Preview: Romania

Romaniapreview

Here’s what happened at #Glasgow2015. 😦

Ponor injured before the trip. Anamaria Ocolisan injured in Glasgow. (Alternate not ready to step-in for some reason.)

4 counting falls on Bars.

Yes they competed in the first flight. But – in the end – Bars is still too weak. Grips have helped. But they should not be relying on free hips when everyone else in the world uses (much more consistent) sole circle skills.

UPDATE – Bea Gheorghisor’s report on the Romanian roation:

… I saw the looks on the coaches’ faces, the disbelief, the shock, the teary eyes. I heard Larisa speaking to the Romanian television, crying, “we are not trying to find excuses, we will think about what happened, we are responsible for all of it”. …
