Yao Jinnan – Beam

Fall on standing 1/1.

Yet will still most likely make the Final.

Yao Jinnan (CHN), qualifications, Beam : 14.100 (D score : 6.40, E score : 7.70). Great performance on Beam. Second best score today behind Kyla Ross (USA, 14.566).

I’d call Yao the favourite to win both Bars and Beam.

She has a shot at the AA podium, as well. Her Vault and tumbling were far stronger than I expected.

She likes Brenna’s chances for Worlds 2014 team.

YAO Jinnan – Bars

In first place, so far, without the Mo salto. (double front over the Bar)

15.433 = D score : 6.70, E score : 8.733

Low E scoring seems to be consistent, so far.

Yao’s in 2nd place on Beam so far (14.100) — with a FALL on 1/1 twist. Floor tumbling was stronger than I expected.

YAO Jinnan has a real shot at the AA podium with her potential high scores on Bars and Beam.

Anna RODIONOVA – Floor

Everybody loves this up-and-coming talent from Russia. Great potential. #WChAntwerp

Now needs the D-scores and consistency.

HUANG Huidan – Bars

Same final score as Kyla. Likely both will qualify for the Final.

15.133 = D score : 6.60, E score : 8.533

Again, I don’t see nearly 1.5 in deduction.

Kyla ROSS – Beam

14.566 = D score : 5.90, E score : 8.666

Click PLAY or watch it on YouTube.

Kyla hit 4/4 in the first preliminary session. AA = 59.198. Impressive everywhere.

59.198 should get her into the AA final. I don’t think Maroney will beat that score, even if she does hit 4/4. … But we’ll see.

8.733 E score on Ross’ Bars?

Let’s compare other E-scores on Bars.

Kaitlyn Hofland was way underscored, as well.

Are these judges going to make the classic mistake — starting the scoring low, then escalating later?

There was a real chance that Tori would not be entered in the AA.

She is. 🙂
