Danusia Francis 10.0 Beam

With MOM in the audience.

Click PLAY or watch it on YouTube.

I’m rooting for her to win the NCAA Beam title. πŸ™‚

Getting a 10 and counting a fall in the same beam rotation. That’s our UCLA. It has been the season of the ups and downs, and that beam rotation encapsulated it perfectly–the joy of Danusia’s 10 followed immediately by the Sawa fall, brought home even more by the fact that all we could see of Val on the feed was her frustrated right hand gesticulating.

The Bruins may be able to get by through enduring the first couple routines and then letting Peszek, Francis, and Courtney save the day at the back of the lineups in the regular season, but they can’t afford days like Sunday in the postseason …

Gymnastics fashion victims

Brigid McCarthy:

…. Fashion trends that ripped through entire teams or even through the entire elite gymnastics scene. Sometimes it’s the hair. Sometimes it’s the leos. Sometimes it’s things worn off the mats. …

Here’s just a few of the trends we have seen over the years that have made us do everything from raise an eyebrow, to slap our forehead and cry β€˜not again!’, to outright moans of horror. …

rumour – Shawn Johnson & the Donald

shawnThe rumors have been swirling about the possible cast for the seventh season of Donald Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice,” which will be Season 14 of the franchise overall.

The official cast announcement is set for Thursday, March 20, with the season shooting this spring and airing sometime later this year on NBC. …

If true, I’m not convinced this is a good career move for Shawn. For one thing, Trump is in the IDIOT Hall of Fame.

Recall that Nadia did not fare too well in that show. She was fired.

Bars chain snaps on Becky Downie

GymFever linked to this routine.

Craig Tilly:

You can hear the chain snap when she does the Pak.

Actually, the Bars themselves were OK. Something in the anchor itself failed.

Click PLAY or watch it on YouTube.

Seems they moved the Bars to the Horizontal Bar tie down after the men’s competition.

She re-did the routine for 14.350.

Update from Susanne in the comments:

Becky didn’t re-do her routine. She was given the opportunity but decided against it as her score from the botched routine still put her in second place behind Ruby Harrold.

FIG specs for tie downs are not sufficient. Not safe.

When, oh when, will a safer mechanism be required for FIG meets?
