Uchimura became the first man to win seven individual all-around national championship titles in succession Sunday.
Uchimura scored a total of 181.200 points at Yoyogi National Stadium, beating second-placed Shogo Nonomura. Ryohei Kato was third at the meet serving as a second-round selection qualifier for the world championships in China in October.
Natsumi Sasada defended the women’s crown with 55.950 points, 0.500 ahead of Asuka Teramoto. Yuna Hiraiwa was third.

He’s too modest. I certainly consider Uchimura’s accomplishments already greater than Scherbo. He might even end up even higher on the Olympic pantheon than Usain.
