Larisa Iordache – Bars

If the World Championships were next weekend, I’d probably predict Larisa to win.

Bars (and staying on Beam) are her two biggest weaknesses.

Bars are dynamic.

6.0 + 8.533 = 14.533

Assuming 8.90 to be a PERFECT E-score in 2014, does 8.533 look too high to you?

Silvia Colussi-Pelaez to OSU

Silvia Colussi-Pelaez has signed a financial aid agreement to join the Oregon State gymnastics program, head coach Tanya Chaplin announced Wednesday. Colussi-Pelaez, a transfer from Florida, completes the 2014 recruiting class …

Colussi-Pelaez, who trains on all four events, competed as a member of Spain’s national team at the 2013 World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium, where she successfully performed a sideways aerial on the balance beam – a first in World or Olympic competition, the skill is now named the Colussi-Pelaez. In 2013, she finished third in the all-around and on vault, beam and floor exercise at the Spanish National Championships. She was also a member of Spain’s 2012 team at the London Olympic Test Event and a member of Spain’s 2011 World Championships team in Tokyo, Japan. …

Why leave sunny Florida for rainy Oregon?

Sister Mariana Colussi-Pelaez has committed to Oregon State for the 2016-2017 season. (Leave a comment if you can confirm this.)

Their family is close. 🙂

I’m happy that we’ll see Silvia compete NCAA more often. She’s a beautiful gymnast. UCLA v OSU next year will be a fun Beam match up.

New Zealand at Commonwealth Games

There have been breakthrough results during the past month and there’s potential for more, bearing in mind the Glasgow Commonwealth Games are on the horizon.

Courtney McGregor completed a couple of firsts for a New Zealand artistic gymnast; her fourth place in the vault, in Qatar, was the best showing by a Kiwi at the World Cup event and her silver medal, also in the vault, at the Pacific Rim championships in Canada last week was the first medal won by a New Zealander at the prestigious championships.

Fellow 15-year-old from the Christchurch School of Gymnastics Charlotte Sullivan made the floor final in both Qatar and Canada and her ranking would suggest she is also a serious medal contender for Glasgow. …

Christchurch gymnasts soaring high again

Their gym, Christchurch School of Gymnastics, was “battered and broken” during the 2011 earthquake. Right now the CSG gym pits are flooded due to massive rains. The gymnasts soldier on.

Trials are coming up for CWG and YOGs.

GOOD LUCK.
