Rewriting Russian Gymnastics – Congratulations Russia!
Nagorny and Tutkhalyan win multiple golds in Youth Olympics
I’m even more convinced there is a place for a Youth Olympic Games in Artistic Gymnastics. I’ve heard no negative comments from the participants this time around. The only downer is that USA will not send a WAG competitor. It would have been more entertaining with an American on the Floor.
HUGE comeback. Sam is repeat National Champion. Very confident heading towards Worlds.

Bloody good B-team if you ask me. π
World’s Team 2014 Nanning, China. π
Paul Ruggeri is the travelling alternate. Would be added to compete 3 apparatus if needed.
Whittenburg really strengthens this team, I feel.

The bad news is that Germany is not in good shape for Worlds 2014. Most of the other top guys are hurting.
While most everyone in the gymnastics world is watching the U.S. Championships, I’m in gorgeous Whistler BC, venue for the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Here’s Dean Bercovitch teaching off-axis twisting for Action Sports.

Penny Erickson and I were gymnasts together in Calgary, back in the day. She’s leading a session on advanced recreational gymnastics.

Peggy Willcox sent 3 of her coaches from Quesnel Technics, staying home to run the gym. But she got a glimpse of the action via Skype.

The U.S. Congress sessions are mostly in lecture halls. Limited. I’ve got the entire GYM all day Sunday for Beginner Competitive Boys.
On the other hand, I’m sharing the gym with Nicole Langevin from Precision. Something tells me her choreography sessions will be dominating. π

@USAGym:
Baumann, Hano, Desch, Hundley, Kocian, Locklear, Nichols + Skinner named to the Pan Am Champs team. Alt decided 24 hrs before competition.
Alyssa Baumann has withdrawn from the Pan Am Championships with an elbow hyperextension injury. Felicia Hano is her replacement.
Kyla went 60.35 day 2. Some feel she’s over-scored, but I can live with her controlled style. I like it.
1. Simone Biles, Spring, Texas, 122.550
2. Kyla Ross, Aliso Viejo, Calif., 118.300
3. Maggie Nichols, Little Canada, Minn., 117.900
4. Alyssa Baumann, Plano, Texas, 116.100
5. MyKayla Skinner, Gilbert, Ariz., 115.450
6. Amelia Hundley, Hamilton, Ohio, 112.200
7. Madison Desch, Lenexa, Kan., 111.200
8. Macy Toronjo, Huntsville, Texas, 109.150
Factor in 0.1 bonus for stuck landing. Still, the USA should be unbeatable in Team at Worlds.
Execution scores are much higher than in China. But lower than in Russia, is my guess.

Nice routine. But not nearly as clean as Kyla. There should have been a bigger gap.
It’s difficult to take more than 0.1 from Kyla on any one skill.

Fact is judges in 2014 are not ranking execution correctly.
