Reebok CHECKLIGHT – head impact indicator

I don’t believe this is any kind of solution, but perhaps it’s a step in the right direction. Education. Awareness.

A reason for a trainer or coach to decide not to put an injured athlete back in the game.

Reebok CHECKLIGHTâ„¢ is a device that is worn on the head during sports and fitness activities with or without a helmet. It will indicate when the device has sustained an impact above a certain threshold. The device is made up of three parts: 1) an electronic unit, 2) a skullcap and 3) a power cord to recharge the battery. Reebok CHECKLIGHTâ„¢ uses LEDs to indicate various functions of the device. The Green blinking light indicates that the unit is on and functioning. A Yellow or Red blinking light indicates that the CHECKLIGHTâ„¢ device has received a moderate (yellow) or more severe (red) impact. An Amber (dark yellow) blinking light indicates that the battery needs to be recharged.

coach in Ireland

My friends at Renmore Gymnastics in Galway, Ireland are looking for a WAG coach for 2-3 months (Feb, Mar, Apr 2015).

You’d need to be able to work legally in Ireland. A great life experience for any coach who’s always wanted to travel to Ireland.

Email Head Coach sally.batley (a) gmail.com for details.

Cuban gymnast to Worlds 2015

Nico and others were unsure whether or not Cuba would be allowed to compete Worlds in Glasgow next year. Happily, it sounds like any nation can send up to 3 MAG and 3 WAG competitors. 🙂

Gymternet:

Though the Cuban gymnastics program has eschewed the World Championships and the Olympic Games ever since three gymnasts defected during Worlds in Anaheim in 2003, it looks like we’ll finally see them back on the major international stage as their gymnasts will attempt to qualify for Rio 2016.

GimnasiaLatina reports that William Garcia, head of Cuba’s national program, announced … that after the success of the Cuban team at the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, he wants two of his top prospects – MAG’s Manrique Larduet and WAG’s Yesenia Ferrera – to get the chance to compete at the Olympic Games.
