WHY are NCAAs in Texas?

For 2015 and 2016 the BIG meet will be hosted by by Texas Woman’s Gymnastics and the Knight Eady Sports Group in Fort Worth.

Why not at one of the top division 1 Universities guaranteed to draw an audience?

Here’s one reason.

β€œSome of the very, very best athletes that have been in the Olympics and the NCAA championships are from the state of Texas,” Oklahoma head coach K.J. Kindler said. β€œThere’s just such a great wealth of talent there and wonderful coaching and amazing clubs …

There isn’t one Division I women’s gymnastics program in the state. Division II Texas Woman’s University houses the state’s only gymnastics program. …

Saturday, before the Super Six competitions begin, the coaches committee is hosting a reception for the state’s Division I athletic directors in an effort to increase awareness.

β€œWe would love to see teams add in Texas,” Kindler said. β€œWe would love to see them come out and support and check out our sport next weekend and see what all the excitement is about.”

That excitement could be tangible for the first school to commit to Division I women’s gymnastics.

There’s no hiding it. Most of these top-tier athletes from Texas if given the chance would stay in the state to compete, Georgia head coach Danna Durante said. …

Julia Sharpe 9th AA at Men’s NAIGC Nationals.

OK. Justin’s WAG floor was impressive.

But Julia, a regular competitor in Men’s competition, this year placed 4th on FX, 8th on H Bar a little over 3 months after giving birth to twins via c-section!

She admitted her β€œabs were pretty much dysfunctional”.

… in cooperation with the InnoSportLab, in S’Hertogenbosch (Bois.le-Duc – NED), will perform a series of tests with electronic timing for hold elements on rings. This experience is a continuation of the tests carried out in Sofia (BUL), at the EC 2014.

The objective is to measure the length of time holding during which the gymnast managed to stop his gesture in the performance when performing strength holding elements like a cross or a planche for example.

This study is conducted in cooperation with the FIG Men’s Technical Committee President, Steve Butcher (USA). The first results will be released after a coming evaluation. …
