Trampoline Pundit:
An amazing coincidence: Precisely 50 years later, film of the 2nd World Trampoline and 1st World Tumbling Championships has been discovered. On January 30, 1965 the event was held in London at the Royal Albert Hall and now film of the momentous occasion can be shared with the world.
It was uncovered recently by a retired school teacher who found the film reel in his attic. As an enlisted man in the army, he was given the canister by the base’s film projectionist. Ted Blake and George Nissen, the competition’s sponsors, had commissioned the 25 minute, 16 mm film to promote the sport of trampoline. …
In the film, you don’t just see the great routines of the Champions of the day – Judy Wills, Gary Erwin, Frankie Schmitz, Wayne Miller, Beverly Averyt and more, but tumbling fans finally get to see the very first World Championship tumblers! …

The main advantage of this product is its quick installation and deflation.
Connect the inflators and your floor is ready for use within a few minutes …
It can be easily stored (folded dimensions of the floor = 153 x 120 x 90cm … and can be transported in the back of a small van.
This inflatable floor establishes itself as the natural first choice for all your workshops and on-the-go demonstrations.
Once inflated, it will remain inflated for several days without using the inflators. A gauge allows pressure monitoring and this can be adjusted simply thereby creating the rebound and stiffness of the floor to suit all your training needs.

The main disadvantage, of course, is trying to land on a force elastic surface. Difficult and potentially dangerous.
Air is great for takeoff. But I’d like the athletes to be landing on force absorbing mats on top of the Air Floor.

Would you have gone 9.95?
Maybe not. But Balance Beam Situation felt – overall – that Florida had a slightly stronger meet than Utah. Overall.
That’s how if felt to me sitting in the stands too. In the absurd scoring system used in College Gymnastics, a close meet can always go either way.
Dave:
… what desperately needs to be done, IMMEDIATELY, is to allow all judges to throw half tenth deductions, at all meets, all the time.
Also, require an extra judge on the panel, at least at post-season meets. These simple, behind-the-scenes fixes will eliminate the endless, silly ties (25 people in vault finals), without changing the scoring system one bit. …

Note that he wears no wrist supports. And it’s nice to see a routine with significant difficulty in Flare. More gymnasts should use flares.
