On July 29th, Biles announced her decision to compete professionally, forgoing the opportunity to compete in NCAA gymnastics. She signed with Octagon, an agency which also represents Dominique Moceanu, Shawn Johnson, and Aly Raisman. …

We won’t be seeing Simone compete NCAA. But she is a very marketable sports celebrity. Could be one of the biggest stars in Rio from all Olympic sports. 🙂
Balance Beam Situation sums up what we’ve heard of the proposed changes to Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics.
• Yurchenko full and Yurchenko 1/2, 9.95 start value.
• On Bars for a 10.0 start, gymnasts will be required to show one of these:
1) a D same-bar release
2) any release of E value (Shap 1/2, bhardwaj, etc.)
3) minimum of two D releases
… routines with a bail and a Shap are also still fine.
4) minimum of two E skills
• No apparatus finals at Championships
• Championships competition Friday and Sunday

Skrypnik counted a fall on her Illusion on beam … She still scored 55.750 to secure the title although it looked for while that she would share her title with Belgium’s Axelle Klinckaert. The Belgian had a great competition and topped it off with a fabulous floor exercise, scoring 14.200 and posting the same total. Unfortunately for the Belgian tie-breaking rules apply in this competition so she had to settle for silver. …
The great Joe Fraser (GBR) won the MAG All Around 84.750.
Great Britains’ Giarnni Regini-Moran, who won both the Youth Olympic Games and Junior European championships in 2014, missed the podium after a disastrous 12.35 on pommel horse. …
