High praise from Australia’s Brigid McCarthy:
I can’t stress this enough. Canada is doing something very right at the moment to be producing such a depth of competitive gymnasts after a a long period of relative scarcity.
To see this high a level of gymnastics in a competition where not a single returning Olympian was in attendance, and to be doing this at the very start of an Olympic quad is mighty impressive.
Canadian gymnasts are going to really have to fight for places on teams throughout the next quad, but this will only drive them harder to produce high level gymnastics. I cannot wait to watch this Olympic quad unfold for Canada.

I believe Gymtastics in Calgary is the first Canadian club to replace their pit foam with Rounders.
Roundersâ„¢ are the only pit foam available with a flame retardant cover. A unique conical shape.
Club Founder Dar Fedyna is well pleased with the investment.
Cost is perhaps double regular pit cubes. But the lifespan of Rounders should be 2-3 times regular cubes.
For a higher initial cost you have a much cleaner gym. With lower risk of allergic reaction to dust.
Ideal for Recreation programs.
Downside?
The cubes are slippery. Kids get buried deeper than in regular foam. Adults have trouble climbing out. … I learned that by jumping in myself.
You might want to ready a throw rope for self-rescuing Adult Rec gymnasts. 🙂
I’m convinced.
Any future gym of mine will not have regular (filthy) foam cubes. It’s Rounders or resi-pit.

Once again, the Kyle Shewfelt Gym Fest will be raising money for Right to Play. That’s an international humanitarian organization promoting sport and play to improve health, develop life skills, and foster peace for children and communities in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the world.
Inspired by Kyle, young Elijah Thompson decided to do his own fundraiser for the charity last year. And raised $2,245.00. So far. 🙂
For his efforts, Right to Play awarded Elijah a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
Elijah had been following the rehabilitation of paralyzed trampolinist Brett Babcock. While in Toronto, he visited Brett. And ended up doing a rehab workout alongside him.
Last night I dropped in at Elijah’s club. It was “mock meet” night. His team is “ready” for KSGF this weekend.
Good luck.
