Kellogg’s sponsors USAG

Good news.

Kellogg Company of Battle Creek, Mich., and USA Gymnastics today announced the company’s official sponsorship of gymnastics’ national governing body.

As part of a three-year partnership, and its continuing commitment to the U.S. Olympic organization, Kellogg Company will become the title sponsor of both the 2012 Kellogg’s® Tour of Gymnastics Champions, a 40-city national tour featuring Team USA’s top performing gymnasts following the 2012 Olympic Games in London, and the 2012 Kellogg’s® Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships, which will take place March 16-18, 2012, in Everett, Wash. …

USAG

Recall that Kellogg’s stole Michael Phelps away from Wheaties … and then dropped him for smoking dope.

Gymnasts should be a little safer investment. 🙂

WOGA training schedule

This from a post by Bekah:

Briley Casanova is a 2 time National Team Member, a future Michigan gymnast and a member of WOGA’s elite team. Briley trains with Laurent Landi’s group at the WOGA Plano

7:45 or 8:00-11:45 AM– “We do team conditioning after we warm up until about 9:00, then normally my coaches split up our team into 2 groups and 1 group goes to bars and 1 group goes to beam

3:30-6:30 PM– “Afternoon practice. We usually repeat bars and beam and finish things we might not have finished in the morning. We also try to finish at least one more event that night, either tumbling or vault.”

I’m sure that’s a simplification, but it’s still interesting to see so much emphasis on just 2 of the 4 apparatus.

Namba Gymnastics Club, Osaka

A few pics of the facility. It’s the top floor of a building conveniently right beside the train station. In Japan you must maximize use of valuable space.

This gym has more air matting than any other I’ve ever seen.

Some things are the SAME in every gym. The smell. And a cluttered collection of grips.

P.S. … the tidiest gym I’ve ever seen is run by Wolfgang & Elfrida Goermann, the Winnipeg Gymnastics Centre. Here’s their story.

Shogo was alternate for the Japanese Worlds team in Tokyo.

Crystal J points out he doesn’t (yet) have BIG enough scores to help Japan beat China at the Olympics. But at this rate of improvement …

Romila Storjohann was there, posting on Couch Gymnast. Read her commentary on Shogo.
