She’s defending World Champion on this event. Just try to beat her.

This will make finals.
I had the wrong score. She actually scored 14.333, only 4th of the Chinese. (WOW) … The top 2 will almost certainly make finals: Deng Liinlin 15,100, Huang Qiushuang 14,466
Thanks for catching that, Kaoru-no-kimi.

Daria Kondakova won the award at this year’s World Rhythmic Championships.
Who will win the women’s prize at the World Artistic Championships?

Leave a comment if you have an opinion. (Longines is giving a watch to those who correctly predict who will win the WAG and MAG award in Rotterdam.)
So far my leading contender is Dominiqua Belanyi from Iceland.
She works hard, is positive and optimistic. …
A joy to watch.
Click through to the FIG profile post on her and teammate Thelma Hermannsdottir. It’s wonderful to see smaller nations like Iceland still able to compete at the highest level.
They both did all-around, just finishing their competition. CONGRATS.
This in response to some complaints about the current generation of mandatory vaulting boards provided at the meet.
via email from FIG:
FIG President, Professor Bruno Grandi, appointed the 3 FIG Vice Presidents to form a special Jury of Appeal. After a meeting with the concerned Heads of Delegations to discuss the issue of the vaulting boards, this Commission has made the following decision:
Based on the principles of health and safety for the athletes, equal playing-field for all and the ability to deliver the best performances, the Commission has decided to allow the use of the Janssen-Fritsen “Beijing board” as a third board even though the FIG Apparatus Certificate for this board expired 31 December 2009.
Gymnasts and Federations who wish to use this board will be asked to sign a waiver.
This exception is made only for the 2010 World Championships in Rotterdam and is in effect from October 17 to October 24 2010.
Beam falls for the final two competitors: Gabriela Dragoi and Raluca Haidu.

Still, they end up with 228.495 (5.283 behind China), but easily into the Team Final which is sudden victory and a different format. … Weird.
Ana Porgras and Raluca Haidu will move on to the all-around Final.
Brazil’s Jade Barbosa should qualify for vault finals: DTY and Podkopayeva.

Inside Gymnastics … (welcome) … reports:
– Aliya Mustafina on Uneven Bars: dismount double back tuck with 1.5 twists
– Mustafina Floor Exercise: triple turn with front leg held in 180 deg split
– Tatiana Nabieva UB: toe on Tkachev in stretched (layout) position
Many men are competing the 1/1-in, 1/2-out on Rings.
High score, so far.

I’ll post the BEST routine videos as they come online. That should be soon.
I apologize for doubting you.
Vault:
Deng Linlin: Yurchenko 1.5 with steps forward.
Yang Yilin: DTY with a small step to the side. Nicely done. A thousand times better than training.
Jiang Yuyuan: Great DTY, just a tiny hop forward. Oh China, just when we begin to doubt you…
Huang Qiushuang: DTY, very good, with little hop forward. Hey, we’re going to see a second vault from her! Piked Podkopayeva, low landing and it seems she touched a hand down, barely.
He Kexin: Does a touch. …

He Kexin, of course, has the high score on Bars, so far. (16.066) She’d only vault in an emergency. But she did do Floor. Wow. This after training much less on that apparatus than her teammates:
Blythe:
He Kexin: Fascinating to see her not on bars. “Bolero” is the music. 2.5 to front layout, nice. Stuck double tuck. Switch, Tourjete half. Cheated her turn a bit. Double full. Nearly stuck double pike. Well well well. Big applause. High fives from her teammates. 13.933.

China’s final team score is 233.778. … Since they hit vault, that will be tough to beat. A 14.611 average for the top 4 scores.
… Correct me if I’ve got any of that wrong.
Winning prelims is sometimes the kiss of death, of course. China doesn’t care so long as they qualify to 3-up, 3-count Team Finals.
