Follow-up from the Course

Bangladesh is a poor country but one on a fast track out of poverty having been named one of the Next 11 economies by by Goldman Sachs. The nation is getting prepared for that anticipated growth.

I project that successful private gymnastics clubs will open within the next 5 years. Development will follow the same route as it has in India. Competitive Artistic Gymnastics will grow in the sport centres, schools and private clubs.

• inexpensive gymnastics bar grips needed

• international volunteer coach needed at Bangladesh Institute of Sport

• inexpensive or donated gymnastics apparatus (new or used) needed

One of the mandates of the International Olympic Committee is to help grow Olympic sport around the world. To this end they budget money to support the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) in building sport programs.

One stream is called Olympic Solidarity funding. Bangladesh requested assistance in developing their Men’s and Women’s Gymnastics programs. Rick McCharles was designated by F.I.G. as the “expert” and asked to travel to the capital Dhaka to work with coaches and athletes.
