little girls inspired to be Olympians

… but what are the odds that two little kids from the same training group would both get to the Olympics?

I’m going to the Olympics with one of my best friends!!!!!! @kyla_ross96!!! #DreamsDoComeTrue

All eight men and all eight women still have a chance to compete in London. You never know.

via @USAGymnastics

They’ll all be training as if they were competing at the Olympics. Only one alternate travels with the Team. I assume the other two will be training nearby, just in case they get the call last minute.

Leave a comment if you know for sure what’s happening.

USA Olympic Team is …

Douglas
Wieber
Raisman
Ross
Maroney

1st Replacement athletes — unranked, we think: Price, Li and Finnegan.

No room for Alicia with Maroney as the VAULT Olympic Champion in waiting. I’m going to miss her. 😦

Douglas, Wieber, Raisman, Ross, ???

USA Trials Final:

1.Gabrielle Douglas 123.450
2.Jordyn Wieber 123.350
3.Aly Raisman 120.950
4.Elizabeth Price 120.100
5.Kyla Ross 118.500
6.Sarah Finnegan 117.650
7.Mckayla Maroney 117.650
8.Kennedy Baker 114.700

Scores were embarrassingly high. (Who’s supervising these ladies?)

The gymnastics was excellent the final day of Trials. Congratulations to everyone involved in the elite women’s program in the USA. You’ve the #1 nation in the world in my opinion. 🙂

Jordyn and Gabby make a great 1-2 punch.

Which other 4 will be named?

Price? Maroney? Sacramone? Li? Finnegan?

And which will be #5 and official “replacement” gymnast?

… tough call.

I’m still taking Price.

In the end, anyone in the top 8 MIGHT end up competing in London. Marta will be quick to pull anyone who looks inconsistent in training.
