I watched that many times and can't help but wonder if it was a mistake or not. It certainly seems like an easy way to try the full turn version with a 'get out of jail free' card if your weight is too far over the supporting arm. HOWEVER....if he performed the 5/4 and then turned back in then that would be something special worthy of a 'G' in my opinion, especially as the Peach full is valued at an 'F'

Bit of a giveaway comment about Russia, Rick? :-)
Why?
Did you not think that this was the best routine?

Chandler's awesome.

... but Shewfelt only has a 16.6 start value. And i know for certain that this isn't the first 16.6 vault competed at JO nationals.

Unless they're counting the second bonus vault.

A little late to this discussion by my view on this is:

Steroids ARE beneficial to gymnastics. They've gone through every sport at some point trying to claim that steroids won't help.

-In hockey it's you have to be too agile for steroids
-In rugby it's you have to have too much endurance to make it through a match
-In tennis it's the agility argument again

Guess what, people use in all of those sports.

Different steroid compounds will have different effects on the body. Some steroids will promote mostly strength gains (anvar - Oxandrolone) and others will promote a lot of water retention and weight gain and muscle mass increases (dianabol - Methandrostenolone)

WOW! Great job on that vault Alex. I love how you twist out of an yurchenko. You are very strong and I know you will do great on all of your gymnastics meets. I will be watching you at all of your meets. You are AWESOME! I will be a level 7 this fall in Freeland, MI. I was watching you at the JO Nationals in Virginia. I went to the meet to watch one of our gymnasts from our gym. I go to Mid Michigan Gymnastics USA. I think that you are an awesome gymnast and you ROCK!

@PT: I can only assume... As Nastia hinted last year, her father-coach has a "crazy" bars routine planned for her. Now it seems that because of her shoulder problem, she has been limited in her bars training. Let us not forget that Nastia is an Olympic AA champion, she has very high standards; if she feels that her routine may not be at par with what she expects of herself, then she has the option of deferring its debut! BUT, Nastia NEEDS her Bars if she wants to be seriously considered for a spot on the team. Balance Beam alone will not guarantee her an invite to the Olympic Trials, because Martha expects that each gymnast should have at least 2 routines ready for verification and evaluation. We just have to wait for US nationals for the debut of her Bars routine and I hope she does not disappoint!
