I’ve seen thousands of pics over the last 2 days.
But the best of all were the series posted by The Big Picture.

Britain's Rebecca Wing celebrates
Check out The Big Picture.
… But it’s strange I haven’t seen a single routine video as yet.

Great images are distributed via the internet in near real time.

Shout out to Grace Chui and all the photographers over in London for the terrific pics I’ve seen already online, especially on Facebook. This will be the best competition ever, I suspect, for people to see pictures and videos in close to real time.

October 12th, 2009 — Gymnastics, photos, vault
When I saw the tiny thumbnail photo of this vault posted on Facebook by International Gymnast magazine, I thought:
WOW. A gymnast with amplitude like Alicia!
When I clicked through to the IG page, however, I found … it was Alicia.
IG Photo of the Day: September 28, 2009 – Alicia Sacramone (U.S.) vaults at the 2005 World Cup in Paris.
I don’t know if we’ll ever see a female gymnast get this much height again.
Alicia announced she would like to make a comeback. Nothing confirmed so far as I’ve heard.
October 9th, 2009 — Gymnastics, Olympics, photos
With the Olympics coming to London in 2012 …
With terrific male gymnasts Junior and Senior in the U.K. …
With a fantastic field in Men’s Artistic Gymnastics, especially this rivalary: Uchimura vs. Hambuchen vs. Horton …
With no Nastia Liukin. No Shawn Johnson. …
I’m predicting this World Championships the Men’s competition may finally start to approach the WAG in popularity with fans and the media. Even those who normally pay no attention to men’s gymnastics will start to get interested.
What do you think? Am I dreaming?
Leave a comment if you have an opinion.
October 8th, 2009 — Gymnastics, Olympics, judging, photos
I can’t find any good overview article summing up the Kiwi Championships 2009.
There are some photos online from Championships 2008, this one of Ashleigh Wade.
… Judging from the results I’ve seen on my former club’s website (Christchurch School of Gymnastics), the Canterbury Team had a brilliant competition. Congratulations!
The last time (2002) I saw Holly Moon she was so tiny she could only barely clear the vault horse on a Handspring. This year she’s the winner of the Junior International division.
Thanks Jenny Jujnovich, meet director.
And shout out to Avril Enslow, who will be judging World Championships in London.
