P Bar locking mechanisms FAIL

Coach Markos Baikas is frustrated.

Frustrated that Parallel Bar locking mechanisms fail so quickly. Frustrated that replacement parts from Spieth in Europe would cost a fortune.

P Bars

Instead, we’re trying to find a local machine shop that could rethread or, perhaps, replace the locking mechanism.

You may want to see if there are local folks that are into 3D printing as well but with metal. (3D plastic printing example here: http://www.evilmadscientist.com/2013/3d-printing-use-case-custom-parts-for-vintage-cars/)

Thanks Steph. The future will be a wonderful place. :-)

I would assume any local machine shop could do that for you. We used one to fabricate an entire mechanical testing fixture from a few technical drawings. Saved us thousands over purchasing one from the manufacturer!

Hey Rick,

How long ago did Markos get these bars since most gymnastics equipment companies have a 1 year warranty on their equipment.

Warranty has passed. He did speak to Spiethe Europe about that, though. No luck.

Dear Mr. Baikas,

we as company SPIETH Gymnastics are very sorry to here that. Please excuse the inconvenience caused by our product. To learn more about that problem and to find a solution, it would be great if you could email us (to j.grau@spieth.gymnnastics.com) some more pictures of this p-bar and the affected locking mechanism and a more detailled describtion.
We are looking forward to hearing from you soon!

Kind Regards, your SPIETH Gymnastics Team

We have exactly the same mechanism for our parallel bars of Janssen & Fritsen (are they just making the same equipment with different brand names?). We had to buy 4 new bolts, it costed us €324,52!!! We’re pretty frustrated with the bars, they’re hard to change height/width. Wish we bought the Gymnova bars, they are really easy to handle.
